Minister of Social Solidarity H.E. Ghada Wally visits Washington, D.C

H.E. Mrs. Ghada Wally, Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, paid a visit to Washington, D.C. from 10-13 May 2015. The Minister’s visit was part of the “Door knock mission” organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt. On 12 May Minister Wally delivered a keynote speech at a breakfast hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. This breakfast was attended by representatives from U.S. political leadership, think tanks, and business executives from both Egypt and the United States. During her speech Minister Wally discussed Egypt’s efforts to reform the economy in order to achieve a higher level of economic growth. She also detailed initiatives by the Government of Egypt to improve standards of living for the most poor and vulnerable through improving the efficiency of social safety nets. During her visit Minister Wally also met with officials from the World Bank to discuss their partnership and outline further next steps to be taken to improve social safety nets.
