On April 13, 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry met with representatives of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington to discuss five areas of joint interest.
The areas of interest discussed consisted of bilateral economic and trade relations between the two countries; developmental leap in Egypt, participation of U.S. companies in sustainable development efforts that are deployed by Egypt with a focus on the clean and renewable energy sector; Egypt’s vision on COP 27 that will be hosted in November, and the role of the private sector in countering climate change efforts.
Shoukry’s visit to the US comes “within the framework of intensifying communication and coordination between the two friendly countries,” the ministry said.
This is in addition to “continuing to strengthen all frameworks of distinguished strategic relations between them and exchanging visions on the most prominent regional and international issues of common concern,” the ministry added.
