Interim President Mansour Votes in Constitutional Referendum, Encourages All Egyptians to Take Part in Election

Today, on Egypt’s first day of voting on the historic draft constitution referendum, interim President Adly Mansour cast his vote at his designated polling station in Heliopolis. Voting in the public referendum, which takes place today and tomorrow, marks the next step in Egypt’s roadmap to democracy and comes after the Committee of 50 approved the amended Constitution unanimously.

President Mansour voted in the Referendum on the Draft Constitution

President Adly Mansour voted this morning in the referendum on the draft Constitution at his designated polling station at the ‘Namozageya School for Girls’ in Heliopolis.

While he was at the polling station, the President gave a brief statement to Egyptian Television, stating “I call upon the Egyptian people to cast their votes in the referendum on the Constitution. Voting is a national duty that should be exercised. Your votes are not only on the Constitution, but on the entire roadmap for Egypt’s future as well.”

The President also expressed his aspiration for an elected President and Parliament, adding that “the Egyptian people need to demonstrate that they do not fear them and are determined to go out and participate in the referendum.”
