Instructions for Sudanese Visa Applicants

Important Notice: All visa applications for Sudanese citizens are processed by mail only. In-person applications will not be accepted.

Please ensure that all the requirements listed below are submitted, as incomplete applications will not be processed.

Pre-Approval Requirement:

  • Applicants must first obtain pre-approval from Egypt, which takes a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks to process.
  • Only mail-in copies of the requirements (don’t mail in any original documents)
  • The consulate will contact the applicant once we receive a response from Egypt regarding the approval.
  • Walked in applications are not accepted. Only mail in the requirements.

Residency Requirement:

  • The Egyptian Consulate in Washington, D.C. accepts visa applications only from residents of the following states:
    • Delaware
    • Florida
    • Georgia
    • Maryland
    • North Carolina
    • South Carolina

Required Documents:

  1. Visa Application Form:
    • A fully completed and signed visa application form with ONE recent passport photo stapled to the form + a clear black and white copy of the application after completing it.

    • ONE recent 2” x 2” high-definition passport photo with a white background (taken within the last 6 months).
  3. Passport (Please submit only clear black and white copies, as poor-quality copies may cause delays in the processing of your visa application):
    • TWO copies of the information page (the page with your photo); passport must be valid for more than 6 months by the time of entry into Egypt with a blank page for visa.
  4. Green Card or residency visa:
    • TWO copies of the following residency visas (Please submit only clear black and white copies, as poor-quality copies may cause delays in the processing of your visa application):
  • Green card (front and back) and must be valid for more than 6 months by the time of entry into Egypt.
  • Work visa and supporting employment verification letter must be valid for more than 6 months by the time of entry into Egypt
  • Student visa and supporting student enrollment letter must be valid for more than 6 months by the time of entry into Egypt

6. Driver’s License and alternative proof of residency documents:

    • A copy of the applicant’s driver’s license (you must be a resident of one of the states we serve).
    • A copy of the applicant’s residential lease
    • A of the applicant medical bill
    • A copy of the applicant’s utility bill

Important note:

The Egyptian consulate in Washington DC only accept pre-approval required documentation by mail. Walk-in applications will not be accepted.

Vaccination: If you are traveling from a country where polio is present, you need to get a polio shot called the “Salk” vaccine. You must take this shot at least 4 weeks before you enter any port in Egypt. The shot will be valid for only 12 months, so make sure it’s still within that time frame when you travel.

Kindly note that processing for pre-approval visas occurs in two stages:

First stage: Applicant mail in (copies only) or present (Original and copies) for the listed requirements below for pre-approval. Processing time for that stage is a minimum of 6-8 weeks. All applicants are advised not to make any travel plans until contacted by the visa section.

Second Stage: If approved, applicants will be contacted to submit the required documents and fees. Processing time will be 10 business days once the documents are received.

Applying in person at the Egyptian Consulate for pre-approval visas:

Walk-ins are accepted from Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM except for national and federal holidays.

Visa On Arrival

(Emergency Visas)

Visa applicants (except the listed nationalities here) are advised to get the visa in advance from the Egyptian consulate that serves their state of residency.

Applicants planning on getting emergency visa at the airport must do/have the following:

  • Passport must be valid for more than 6 months at arrival
  • US Green Card must be valid for more than 6 months
  • Confirm with the airlines that a visa is not required to be boarded on the plane
  • Canadian passport holders cannot acquire visa on arrival only through the Egyptian consulate that has their jurisdiction
  • Passports holder’s who are on list of countries requiring pre-approval cannot acquire visa upon arrival

Kindly note that Egyptian customs have the right to deny entry at the airport if necessary.
