This morning, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi visited the hospital where the victim of the sexual assault is receiving treatment in order to get a first-hand understanding of her condition. The visit sends a strong signal that the state will do everything in its power to protect all its citizens and restore security and stability.

He added that in parallel with the security forces, everyone in society bears a responsibility to confront this menace.

The President aimed his remarks directly at members of the armed forces and the police, as well as every Egyptian citizen brought up on the values of honor and respect to confront this issue, adding that there should be zero-tolerance for such behavior in Egypt.

“Our honor is being assaulted in the streets. This is unacceptable and we can’t allow one more incident like this to happen,” President El-Sisi asserted.  He called on state institutions, including the judiciary and the police, as well as the media and every male citizen to confront this phenomenon, adding that the state will insist on implementing the full extent of the law to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
