Ambassador Zahran has authored an Op-Ed featured on Newsweek, discussing Egypt’s current work and efforts to secure its energy future through investments in renewable energy and new natural gas fields in the Eastern Mediterranean, the upcoming preparations for the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) which will be hosted by Egypt, in November.

Ambassador Zahran further discussed the importance of the Egypt-U.S. strategic partnership, reflecting on the recent meeting shared between U.S. President Joe Biden and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, reaffirming their shared commitment to the United States-Egypt strategic partnership; as well as the importance of this year, as Egypt and the U.S. celebrate the centennial of establishing diplomatic relations.

The Ambassador further reflected on the importance of the strategic diplomatic partnership shared between both nations, discussing the ongoing challenging crises around the globe, Egypt’s role as a key U.S. national security partner in a volatile region of the world, the ways in which both Egypt and the U.S. are working together to advance shared interests to bring about transformational change.
