Ambassador Zahran has authored an Op-Ed featured on CNN, discussing Egypt’s dedication for the past two weeks to end the deadly conflict between its Palestinian and Israeli neighbors. From the beginning, Egyptian mediators led de-escalation talks with both Hamas and Israeli leadership, supporting humanitarian efforts on the ground, and the opening of the Rafah border crossing for the provision of immediate medical care to the injured in Gaza.

Ambassador Zahran further discusses Egypt’s substantive contributions toward a Middle East peace plan, proximity to the conflict, and Egypt’s singular position to help restart negotiations toward a two-state solution between Palestinians and Israelis.
