The special Egypt-focused magazine features articles and analysis from Egyptian officials, business executives, and former high-ranking national security officials.

In his Diplomatic Courier piece, Ambassador David Thorne, Senior Advisor to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, writes the “The U.S. Government is committed to supporting a prosperous Egyptian economy…Our goal is straightforward: to promote shared prosperity and the kind of inclusive, sustainable growth that benefits the U.S. as well as Egypt. Working together, we all prosper.” Ambassador Thorne also praises measures the Egyptian government has taken to reform and grow the economy: “President al-Sisi and his economic cabinet have taken many steps to return Egypt to its pre-2011 levels of economic growth, including stabilizing its macro-economy, improving the business climate, and laying the foundations for the kind of balanced growth that can build investor confidence.”

Meanwhile, former Deputy Director and Acting Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Michael Morell asserts in his article “The United States must continue working with Egypt and the Sisi government to strengthen a bilateral relationship based on decades of cooperation in addressing shared challenges.” Morrell also commends President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s efforts to combat extremism: “The Sisi regime is taking major steps to combat terrorism throughout Egypt and North Africa…President Sisi is also one of the only Arab leaders taking on the bigger CT challenge—how to prevent the creation of terrorists, rather than just dealing with them after that they have been created.”
