Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met US Secretary of State John Kerry in Cairo, on October 12 on the sidelines of Gaza’s Reconstruction Conference

On October 12, 2014, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Cairo on the sidelines of Gaza’s
Reconstruction Conference. They discussed bilateral relations and ways to achieve the common interests of both countries.

During the meeting, both sides discussed regional and international
issues, mainly the Palestinian issue and the necessity of launching a reconstruction process for Gaza to alleviate Gaza’s people suffering. They also discussed some ideas to revive peace efforts between Palestinians and Israelis based on international best practices. Both ministries confirmed that conflict resolution is the only guarantee of not having future war in Gaza strip.

They discussed others issues in the region, like the importance of reaching a political solution to the Syrian, and how to support the Iraqi government’s efforts to manage a new political process that includes all Iraqi political partners irrespective their religious, ethical and sectarian affiliations.
